In Dutch the word "Heisa" can mean noise, fuss, hyper, etc, which rings a bell for Arabic speakers as the word used in some dialicts around the Arab world, that brings the same meaning and feeling.

In collaboration with Bib Sint-Gilis, and Pianofabriek, LP is organizing an open day of a bookfair, interactive reading for Children, a panel discussion and a music concert!

12 PM to 6 PM @ Bib Sint-Gillis
Bookfair: a selection of books in Arabic chose by LP at Bibliotheek Sint-Gillis (Emile Ferronstraat 173, 1060 Sint-Gillis)

3 PM @ Bib Sint-Gillis
Reem Younes tells stories for children in Arabic and Dutch.

7 PM @ Pianofabriek
Panel discussion:
Heisa* | Connecting, Translating, Publishing | Arabic Literature Dutch LiteratureLore Baeten, Nisrine Mbarki and Jurgen Maas, to discuss topics about connections, translations. and publishing, between Arab and Dutch literature in Belgium, disporas, and the Arab World.

Damast Duo: Syrian violinist Shalan Alhamwy and Belgian accordionist Jonas Malfliet bring together awide repertoire of Arabic and European folk music along with their own originals.

This event was developed in framework of the 1060 Talk/Pitch/Play program supported by thecultural department of Dutch affairs in the municipality of Sint-Gillis.

De Bibliotheek en het Lokaal Cultuurbeleid van Sint-Gillis organiseren samen met Lagrange Pointseen dag in het teken van Arabische literatuur.

Op 30 April kan je onder andere een boekenmarkt, interactief voorlezen voor kinderen, een panelgesprek en een concert beleven !
